A Father's Day Commission

Just wanted to share a recent commission I completed for a collector who's husband is restoring this 1971 Cadillac.  What a wonderful shade of mandarin orange!  It is the original paint.  This was a FUN one to do!

What I love about the public library

• it's so quiet I can hear myself think
• the Art section is huge!
• all the flat surfaces are clear of clutter
• I feel like I'm absorbing knowledge just sitting next to so many books
• I do still like the feel of a book in my hand and the aged scent of its pages...
• A verse from a song I used to play for my kids comes to mind "teacher takes us off to the moon for a closer look.... We don't have to go very far, it's right there in a book..."
• hear is what I'm 'reading'...it's a really cool book

Milwaukee,WI Art Museum ~ Robert Henri

Traveling for a family wedding.... had some time to kill before our return flight so stopped at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The architecture of the building alone is worth a visit to see. Inside contains such a broad collection of art. I was excited to see three pieces by one of my favorite oil painters, Robert Henri.
The Milwaukee Art Museum
Blonde Bridget Lavelle, 1929, Robert Henri
Betalo Nude, 1916, Robert Henri

The Art Student, 1906, Robert Henri

Happy Easter everyone!
Sharing a recent commission delivered.  Lake Afton is wonderful this time of year.
A peaceful place to gather, feed the ducks, fish, enjoy a coffee from the nearby Starbucks.
The Old Library on Lake Afton is full of history and one of my favorite landmarks to paint.

If you have some free time this weekend, it's worth a stop!  Not only will you see the Artsbridge member art exhibit, but the historic Prallsville Mill property located right on the canal offers a place to stop and stroll the tow path.  With the snow last weekend, I saw cross country skiers gliding along taking in the beauty of the season.  With the weather we have been having, you might need to throw some boots in the car!

sharing a commission recently finished….

As an owner of a chocolate lab, I really enjoyed painting this portrait of a black lab called "Diamond".   The owner was so please which warmed my heart.  The unconditional love of a dog is such a wonder to witness.
