Qiang Huang Workshop in Putney, Vermont
I attended Qiang Huang's Workshop at the Village Arts of Putney in Putney,Vermont hosted by Penelope and Captain John last week. It was a memorable experience I will cherish. Qiang(pronounced Chong) is a daily painter I have admired for quite some time so when a spot opened I didn't hesitate and booked my trip even though he will be coming to my area in October 2013 to host a workshop at the Artists of Yardley Center. It was an inspirational three days immersed in the home of the well know Putney Painters where artists such as Richard Schmid, Nancy Guzik, and Jack Keledjian paint on a regular basis. Qiang generously shared information on his technique, theory and business. Each day started with a slide presentation followed by Qiang's demonstration then applying what we learned to our own individual still life setups. Not only did I learn an abundance of information but met some wonderful artists from around the country who all share in the pursuit of advancing their skills in oil painting by studying with a Master Oil Painter. I hope you enjoy the links I provided and photos above. From top to bottom: Qiang standing in front of his Day 2 demo, our wonderful group shot outside the Village Arts Center with Qiang, Penelope and Jack Keledjian, both demos by Qiang, Jack Keledjian painting, inside the Village Arts of Putney Studio with walls graced by works of the Putney Painters, me discussing theory with Qiang.
