Sharing some recent commissions

Welcome 2016!
If you are on the east coast, you are most likely experiencing snow storm Jonas!
Here's hoping everyone is safe and warm.....
This snowbound day is offering me some much needed time to do some studio decluttering and organization as I prepare for a February 30 small paintings in 30 days challenge.
Also, now that the surprises have been sprung, I wanted to share a few commissions of pets I painted over the holiday... but first, Jonas.. still coming down!

Small Works Show at Artist's of Yardley: Friday December 4th Opening Reception 6:00PM

This year I have two paintings in the Small Works Show!

Consider giving the gift of original art this holiday season by supporting your local artists!

Join us this Friday, December 4th for the Opening Reception of the Small Works Show.

Come for the Opening Reception for the largest selection!

Doors open this Friday December 4th at 6:00 PM.

Come see how local artists have applied their magic to an 8x8 canvas. You'll find pure inspiration as unique as the individual artists themselves.

This is the only show at AOY that is "cash/credit and carry"....we want you to be able to take that special piece of artwork home to share with others this holiday season.  All canvases are $100. This year we are also selling simple black drop in frames for an additional $20. To preview some of the artwork, go to our AOY Facebook page (Please LIKE US!)  Sorry, no online sales.

The Small Works Show is open weekends through Dec 20th (if the artwork lasts that long), Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12:00-5:00 PM.

Last day plein air painting took us to "The Knob" , located in Woods Hole, MA

with spectacular views of Quissett Harbor.

It replicated a European fishing village port with it's many anchored colorful boats and buoys.  It was a beautiful sunny crisp day.  You can see the painters setting up in the distant left.  I arrived early and took tons of reference photos in the morning light.  It's fun to explore the points of land that jut out into the sea so I took a quick bike ride/walk to the very tip of "The Knob" before returning to set up and choose a vantage point of the harbor.

While the fog in waters comes and goes equally fast, the lobster buoys are always brightly painted and clearly identifiable.

"While choosing the color of the buoy you must ensure the color or color patterns are unique to you and no other lobsterman is using them."

This charming doorway was part of the Museum on the Green in Falmouth, MA painted plein air.  I just loved the whale sign and light fixture by the door along with the colors created by the light on the cedar shingles and the warm greens in the distance.  This piece is a bit larger than I usual paint measuring 8" x 8"

Here is a photo another artist took of me painting so you can see the full view.  The tricky thing about painting plein air... when I started the painting the Museum was closed.  During the course of painting the Museum opened sliding the doors to cover the window I was painting.  One recommendation by our instructor was to take a photo of your view when you first start to paint just for this reason... I'm glad I did so I could finish by using my reference photo :-)
