"New Beginnings on the Canal" by Susie Morrell

A protective mom allowed me to get just close enough to take this picture to paint from with my iPhone.  This was just the first of many goslings to cross the path.  A reminder that some things never change.

Yardley, PA Canal Tow Path... a misty morning

On these hot summer days, I find the most pleasant time to walk on the canal tow path is early morning... and you see the most wonderful wildlife!

The Old Library at Lake Afton ~ a commission

©2014 SusieMorrell ~ Lake Afton Library in Spring 24x30 oil on canvas

Happy Easter everyone!
Sharing a recent commission delivered.  Lake Afton is wonderful this time of year.
A peaceful place to gather, feed the ducks, fish, enjoy a coffee from the nearby Starbucks.
The Old Library on Lake Afton is full of history and one of my favorite landmarks to paint.

My recent version of The Old Library on Lake Afton in Yardley, PA.
In the 1870's the citizens of Yardleyville erected a library building on land donated by the heirs of William Yardley who settled in the area in 1682 on land purchased from William Penn. The Yardleyville Library was completed in 1878. The building's style, known as "carpenter" Gothic, features a steep gable roof, decorative slate work, and pointed arched windows. The design was possibly copied from an old volume of poetry.

Give a "little" art this holiday!

Lake Afton is in the center of the village of Yardley, PA where you often see people taking
the time to sit and enjoy feeding the ducks, fishing or sipping a refreshment from the
Starbucks on the south end of the lake while just taking in the beauty and fresh air.  I
have captured it from all views with my camera and loved this view of the shaded path.
Recently construction has begun to improve the walking path between the road and the lake
to make access safer for visitors.
