What I love about the public library

• it's so quiet I can hear myself think
• the Art section is huge!
• all the flat surfaces are clear of clutter
• I feel like I'm absorbing knowledge just sitting next to so many books
• I do still like the feel of a book in my hand and the aged scent of its pages...
• A verse from a song I used to play for my kids comes to mind "teacher takes us off to the moon for a closer look.... We don't have to go very far, it's right there in a book..."
• hear is what I'm 'reading'...it's a really cool book

Milwaukee,WI Art Museum ~ Robert Henri

Traveling for a family wedding.... had some time to kill before our return flight so stopped at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The architecture of the building alone is worth a visit to see. Inside contains such a broad collection of art. I was excited to see three pieces by one of my favorite oil painters, Robert Henri.
The Milwaukee Art Museum
Blonde Bridget Lavelle, 1929, Robert Henri
Betalo Nude, 1916, Robert Henri

The Art Student, 1906, Robert Henri

The Old Library at Lake Afton ~ a commission

©2014 SusieMorrell ~ Lake Afton Library in Spring 24x30 oil on canvas

Happy Easter everyone!
Sharing a recent commission delivered.  Lake Afton is wonderful this time of year.
A peaceful place to gather, feed the ducks, fish, enjoy a coffee from the nearby Starbucks.
The Old Library on Lake Afton is full of history and one of my favorite landmarks to paint.

Start Your Engines ~

I had this painting tucked away and forgot to post it.  I liked the perspective. If you are a car enthusiast you'll like the car :-)

The event will be held at the Spring Mill Manor in Ivyland, PA. The impact this school has made on a good friend's family has inspired me to donate two pieces of artwork to the silent auction portion of the event.  Please click HERE for information on purchasing ticket to the event by Tuesday March 25th.  Can't attend? Please consider donating by clicking on the 'Donate Now' button.  Here are the two pieces of my artwork being auctioned.  All proceeds will benefit Potential, Inc.
